1.1 Introduction
Welcome to Moonitoring. This documentation is the shared reference for the context, standards, and practices you need to contribute confidently across the company.
Documentation scope
This site contains company-wide knowledge that applies across projects. Documentation that is specific to a project lives alongside its code in that project's repository, under the docs/ directory, following the Moonitoring documentation convention. If something in a page is unclear or does not match reality, contact its owner first. If no owner is assigned, contact one of its writers.
1.1.1 Company Overview¶
Moonitoring began as an exam project created by Sebastiano Siorpaes and Filiberto Vignaga while studying Digital Economics & Finance. What started as an idea designed to approach a familiar industry from a different perspective quickly developed beyond the classroom.
In less than three months, the idea became a working prototype for dairy farmers. The platform connected animal-health and farm-management data with insurance policies, grounding the insurance process in what was actually happening on the farm.
Moonitoring's current objective is to use that data to make agricultural insurance more efficient, transparent, and responsive, including faster claims handling based on real operational evidence.
